Explore polyethylene terephthalate (PET) manufactured by Armacell.

ArmaFORM: From the empty bottle to a genuine foam core

Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) foams are the newest structural core materials in the composite industry. The first in the market, Armacell commercially launched ArmaForm PET in 2006. ArmaForm Core is used in sandwich structures and is steadily substituting traditional materials such as Balsa, SAN or PVC.

The reason is simple: with outstanding product quality, tremendous diversity of uses and truly sustainable production, ArmaForm Core offers new perspectives in manufacturing.

Lightweight and high mechanical strength in conjunction with residual flexibility and maximum service life are expected of a modern composite material, and ArmaForm provides this and more.

Key features include:

  • Excellent fatigue properties
  • High temperature resistance
  • Limited density variation
  • Process versatility
  • Thermoformability
  • Recyclability & sustainability

Product options

ArmaFORM PET GR

For highly sustainable requirements. ArmaFORM PET GR foam boards have consistent, reliable qualities, 100% made of post-consumer (recycled) PET material. This foam core meets not only stringent technical requirements for composites but also follows the guidelines for circular economy and helps to preserve and enhance the human environment. ArmaForm PET outperforms any other structural foam core in the composite industry in terms of environmental benefits, whether a competing PET foam or other polymeric foams like PVC or SAN. ArmaFORM PET GFR

For stringent FST requirements. ArmaForm Core GFR is a structural foam core designed for the transport industry’s more stringent flame, smoke and toxicity (FST) requirements. This fire retardant, self-extinguishable version of ArmaForm Core combines superior FST performance with outstanding fatigue resistance and mechanical properties. ArmaFORM Eco

High-performing and CO2 efficient. Designing energy-efficient composite sandwich structures are a powerful way of saving energy and reducing CO2 emissions. This leads to higher and specific requirements to the core material in terms of insulating properties and mechanical performance. ArmaForm Eco combines strength, stiffness and thermal insulation with process versatility and design flexibility, as well as outstanding sustainability. Click here for Technical Specifications.

ArmaFORM PET MultiCore

One form core, different densities. Combining different densities in one foam core improves impact and point load resistance, while keeping the weight at its minimum. Due to its thermoplastic nature, ArmaForm PET MultiCore opens new ways of processing the core into a multi-layered concept: the thermo-welding process. This process provides a uniform and well controlled bond line every time and eliminates the core stress concentration induced by cutting the foam. Click here for Technical Specifications.
